If you are anything like us, then holiday decorating is your Super Bowl. Whether it’s cozy blankets, fall pumpkins, elaborate tablescapes, or twinkly Christmas garlands, November to the New Year is our favorite time of year as homeowners. There is just something so magical about creating the perfect holiday atmosphere in your home, with decor that enhances your space and fits your vibe.

The only problem is, with so much seasonal decor to choose from, it’s difficult to know what exactly to buy and how to style your home in a way that suits your space, your personal style, and gives you that festive look and feel we love around the holidays.

This month we are sharing with you 5 seasonal design tips to help you style your space for this Holiday season!

1. Nostalgic / antique décor

After a few seasons of monochromatic and minimalist décor, homeowners are opting for more of an authentic, personalized feel when it comes to this year’s holiday decorating. 2024 trends are throwing it back in time with a rise in nostalgic and antique seasonal décor. We’re talking colorful lights, playful ornaments, and vintage decorations!

Vintage decor offers an authentic and genuine aesthetic that mass-produced items often lack. The imperfections and unique characteristics of vintage pieces add character and personality to holiday settings. Incorporating antique elements allows individuals to personalize their holiday decor, creating spaces that reflect their unique histories and tastes rather than following fleeting trends. This means incorporating more timeless pieces with personal meaning that you will be able to use yearly rather than generic items that get thrown away each New Year.

2. Rich earthy tones

With cold weather and dark days approaching, homeowners are creating seasonal spaces that maximize comfort and coziness with color palettes that lean into warm, rich, and earthy tones. Think mauves, burgundies, deep greens, golds, and browns.

These earthy tones are a great addition to a home design in terms of seasonal décor because they warm up a space and lean into the cozy vibe.

3. Soft Items

Effective seasonal décor is as much about what it looks like as what it feels like. Trending this Holiday season is layering lots of different textures into your home design through soft elements like velvet throw pillows, knitted blankets, and textured rugs.

I mean, what’s the point of designing a beautiful space if it’s uncomfortable to spend time in?

The addition of soft elements is going to give your home an incredibly comfortable atmosphere that will be enjoyed by family and guests. Not to mention these elements are super easy and affordable to swap in and out with the seasons!

4. Moody lighting

Twinkly lights, cozy candles, and moody lighting are all essentials when it comes to this year’s seasonal décor. The goal is to give your space that effortless glow and create a comfortable atmosphere that contrasts the dark and snowy outdoors.

In addition to the Christmas the lights we know and love, the incorporation of task lighting and mood lighting is also a staple in this year’s seasonal décor trends. Lamps that emit a soft glow, integrated lighting, and sconces are all elements that you can incorporate in your home design to take your Holiday décor to the next level.

5. Raw finishes and natural textures

Rising in popularity this Holiday season is the incorporation of raw finishes and natural textures in your home design. Finishes like leather, weathered wood, and stone give our homes a cozy, rustic feel and bring the beauty of the outdoors inside our homes. These textures create that welcoming and grounded atmosphere that we associate with the Holiday season.

The combination of different textures gives a space visual interest and depth while also helping your seasonal décor feel very intentional and well thought out.
